How should I dress for Chichen Itza?

The heat can be intense, so wear light-colored, fresh clothing. We recommend cotton t-shirts and shorts or Bermuda shorts, as well as sneakers, a cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Reasons

The heat is a serious issue, and the weather can change quickly. Remember that Chichen Itza is in the middle of the Yucatan jungle.

While there are some trees that provide shade, they aren't abundant. It's best to be prepared, especially if you have small children; a small, folding stroller can be a good idea.

Proper preparation and clothing are key. Fresh and comfortable clothing made of breathable fabric is essential, especially light colors. If you wear black, you will feel the heat more intensely.

Men: Shorts, Bermuda shorts, lightweight linen pants, loose cotton t-shirts, or short-sleeved linen shirts.

Women: Shorts, Bermuda shorts, long and flowing skirts, lightweight dresses, and loose blouses. "Palazzo pants" or linen pants are also an excellent option.

Avoid: Tight jeans, heavy clothing, or synthetic fabrics that don't breathe well.

You should also wear comfortable sneakers that are already broken in so you can walk comfortably.

You can bring a bottle of cold water, which you can buy at the entrance. We also recommend using the restrooms before you enter Chichen Itza so you don't have to leave and re-enter, especially if you are far from the main entrance.
